Say "NO" to Central States Girls Prospects Division
All of us at the North Shore Warhawks have consistently engaged with AHAI, NIHL and other clubs to develop a level playing field for our sport. We have worked tirelessly to give girls opportunities to grow and excel in this otherwise male-dominated game.
On January 12th, Central States announced their plan to create a separate "girls" division for the 2025-2026 season. Now, nearly a month later, no further information has been disseminated to the community. This lack of focus on maintaining and developing parity raises serious concerns regarding the future of girls' hockey.
We believe this drastic change will ultimately create division, fracture unity, and weaken the development of girls' hockey in Illinois. With approximately 19 clubs with girls teams, 60 girls teams, and over 950 female members, this sudden change will inadvertently split the focus, diluting the quality and development of talent in the sport. We stand against this action, which we believe is an unintended consequence of misguided decisions by Central States.
Instead, we advocate for the continued growth of a strong, unified girls' hockey division – one that furthers parity, encourages development, and strengthens the hockey community in Illinois. Join us in objecting to the creation of a separate division that lacks focus and threatens the unity of girls' hockey in Illinois.
We invite everyone to sign the following petition to show your support for maintaining the intensity, vibrancy, and unity of girls' hockey in Illinois.
